Jaarverslag 2016: Acomo
De business bestaat uit het sourcing of agricultural products (1), trade to create options - like storage and blending - (2) and deliver to customers (3) en is in drie units georganiseerd:
- Spices and Nuts (uitgevoerd door Catz International B.V., Tovano B.V. , King Nuts B.V. ), ca. 51% omzet
- Edible Seeds (Red River, SIGCO) ca. 27% omzet
- Tea (Van Rees group) ca. 19 % omzet
- Food Ingredients (Snick euroingredients, het Belgische bedrijf werd in 2009 overgenomen door Acomo, en bestaat sinds 1993)
De omzet komt voor ca. 60% uit Europa (waarvan 17% uit Nederland), 24% komt uit de VS.Over de cultuur.

Er is betrekkelijk weinig informatie over de organisatie, een kantlijn over IT, door de introductie van een nieuw ERP systeem in de TEA business unit (via internet blijkt dat hiervoor Microsoft Dynamics is gekozen)...When it comes to IT Acomo chooses to use solid and proven technology, with a focus on enterprise resources and risk management.

De Ceo neemt na vier jaar afscheid Presenting this Annual Report 2016 to you is among my final actions as CEO of Acomo. My four-year term now comes to an end and I look back with pride and gratitude.
Als strategie wil Acomo de opportunities maximaliseren in haar werkgebied van niche food commodities, Ze heeft daarvoor USP geformuleerd en de markt gekenschetst: markt barrieres zijn safety requierments, reputation, kapitaal, klantnetwerk en schaarse skills werknemers.
De rolverdeling van de holding versus de operating companies is als volgt:
De rol van de holding (8 medewerkers) wordt bewust klein,flexibel, en kosten-efficient gehouden. De holding verzorgt CSR en guidelines voor de operating companies. Een van de acht medewerkers houdt zich specifiek met CSR bezig. De CEO (en tevens company secratary) neemt afscheid in 2017, en CFO (sinds 2016) vormen het dagelijks bestuur.
De rol van de operating companies: volledige autonomie met zelfs eigen management en financial control en zelfs een eigen supervisor board. Beperkte guidelines van boven.Over de markt:
De prijzen bewegen zich volatiel, onder andere door klimaat effecten (zoals na de El Niño storm). Tea prijzen bewegen soms in eigen regionale beweging en soms zelfs in tegengesteld richting. In het algemeen staan veel commoditie-prijzen onder druk. Aangezien commodities in dollars worden verhandeld is de dollar-beweging het belangrijkste risico.
De strategische risico´s zijn voornamelijk sustainability en mogelijk verhoogde competitie in de markt.
Operationale risico´s zijn:
- Agricultural developments (weather conditions, harvests, longterm planting cycles and so on)
- Fluctuations in commodity prices
- Fluctuations in the supply of, or demand for, the commodities in which we operate
- Fluctuations in currency exchange rates (USD)
- Geopolitical risks
- Sourcing, freight, storage, infrastructure and logistics
- Food safety and recall risks
- Inability to attract, develop and retain trading staff
